What is an Order of Protection?
Question: What is an Order of Protection?
In the context of a criminal case, an order of protection usually comes in the form of a no contact provision. But it’s a pretty blanket restriction. That means that you cannot, while the case is pending, make any contact with the alleged victim or the complainant, either personally, by phone, by email, by internet or having a third person do that on your behalf. So when we’re talking about this order of protection, it’s really a no contact provision that is being discussed and required.
