What is Burglary?
Question: What is Burglary?
Burglary is usually a crime that is prosecuted together with another crime or coupled with a second crime. Burglary literally means to enter into somebody’s property, whether that’s a house or whether that’s a structure like a business or whether that’s a vehicle, what we sometimes refer to as a conveyance, with the intent to carry out a separate act. Such as if someone wanted to break into a car to steal, let’s say, a DVD player or a piece of jewelry or something in the vehicle and they do so, they can be charged with the entry into that vehicle as the burglary of a conveyance and also be charged with the theft of the item, depending upon its value. It could either be a petty theft or it could be a grand theft.
